Bald Eagle 2026 Forever Stamps — Hatchling to Adult, Pane of 20

Congress named the bald eagle the national symbol on June 20, 1782, and the bird has been doing symbolic work ever since — on the Great Seal, on currency, on military insignia, and on the Postal Service's own logo. Eagle feathers have carried ceremonial meaning in Native American cultures far longer than that.

A break from the usual treatment

Bald eagles first appeared on U.S. stamps in 1869 and have returned many times since, usually stylized — art deco illustration in one era, a photographed wall carving in another. Art Director Derry Noyes went the other way for this issue and used naturalistic imagery instead.

Hatchling to adult

The set follows the bird through its life stages rather than presenting a single heroic portrait, which is what gives the pane its title.
