The four designs

Each shows an American flag at full staff, seen from below, against trees that place the scene in one of the four seasons. Looking up at the pole is what gives the set its consistency — the flag is identical each time, and everything behind it changes.

Credits

Laura Stutzman painted the artwork in gouache on illustration board, working from her own photographs of the flag as reference. Phil Jordan was art director.
