The set

Ten designs covering classic Disney villains, with the reverse of the pane carrying drawings of all ten characters alongside their best-known lines. The Postal Service framed the issue as a tribute to the legacy of the Walt Disney Studios Ink & Paint Department, and Disney Creative Director David Pacheco worked with that department to produce new art specifically for the stamps. The ceremony was held at the Anaheim Convention Center.

This design

The Evil Queen from Snow White (1937), Walt Disney Studios' first animated feature.

Taken from the Grimm tale, she is what actually drives the story — sending a huntsman to kill the princess out of jealousy, then using dark magic to change her own form and confront Snow White herself. Snow White falls, and the dwarfs arrive too late to prevent it.

Snow White is the heroine, but critics have long argued the Queen is the more interesting character. She reset what a villain could be, establishing that they did not have to be ugly to be frightening.
