The set

Ten stamps for Hot Wheels' 50th anniversary, each showing a different car running on the orange track everyone recognizes: Purple Passion, Rocket-Bye-Baby, Rigor Motor, Rodger Dodger, Mach Speeder, Twin Mill, Bone Shaker, HW40, Deora II and Sharkruiser. This one is the Rodger Dodger. The first-day event was held at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth.

Why the Rodger Dodger matters

The 1974 blue Rodger Dodger is one of the most sought-after castings in the hobby. It was based on the 1973 Dodge Charger SE and given the treatment of the era — oversized engine, flames down the flanks, the whole street-race fantasy in three inches of die-cast.

Its value comes down to scarcity: only seven of the blue version were produced. Collectors have paid extraordinary sums chasing it, which is how a toy car becomes a Holy Grail.
