The design
Scooby watering a flower — chosen to tie the stamp to the "Doo Good" campaign, which used the character to raise awareness of environmental problems.
How the show got here
Joe Ruby and Ken Spears created Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! in 1969, deliberately as an alternative to the more violent Saturday morning programming of the time. It was popular immediately and ran until 1986.
After a two-year gap, A Pup Named Scooby-Doo restarted the franchise and opened a long run of spin-offs. The first live-action film arrived in 2002 to a strong reception and several sequels followed.
Nearly sixty years on, the mystery-solving dog is still on television — and now attached to some real-world good works as well.
