The souvenir sheet
The sheet reproduces a Sundblom painting first published in a 1963 Coca-Cola advertisement — Santa on Christmas Eve, mid-visit. It carries one semi-jumbo version of a stamp from the Sparkling Holidays set.
In the scene Santa stands at a fireplace holding the book of good boys and girls. On the mantel, a note held down by a Coca-Cola bottle reads "Dear Santa Please Pause Here," signed "Jimmy."
Below the image, "Sparkling Holidays" is printed in gold metallic ink, the lettering and border shaped after graphic styles of the first half of the twentieth century.
The four stamps
All four use Sundblom paintings originally produced as Coca-Cola advertising between the 1940s and the early 1960s — the images that fixed the modern picture of Santa Claus in American minds.
