The design

Artwork by stamp designer and illustrator Laura Stutzman, who built the image by combining three separate photographs of the same flag. Six stamps make up the 2022 U.S. Flag set, each carrying its own details; this is the 100-count coil, which suits high-volume mailing.

The folded flag

Glynis Seeley put it this way: you do not truly understand what the flag means until someone hands you a folded one. She was describing the flag-folding ceremony at a military funeral, performed by the service member's own branch. Thirteen precise folds later, what remains is a triangle that stands for the principles and the sacrifice.
