The stations

Five depots appear in illustrations by Down the Street Designs: Cincinnati Union Terminal, Tamaqua, Point of Rocks, Main Street, and Santa Fe.

Union Terminal, Cincinnati

The first-day city was chosen for good reason. Union Terminal is one of the country's great Art Deco buildings — designed by Roland Wank, with the scheme reworked by Paul Philippe Cret, and constructed between 1929 and 1933, finishing ahead of schedule. Its scale explains the nickname "Temple to Transportation": it was built to handle 17,000 passengers and as many as 216 trains a day.

It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1972 — the same year rail service there lapsed. Trains returned in 1991 after renovation, and the building now houses museums and an OMNIMAX theater.
