The artwork

The stamp shows Aaron from the waist up as an Atlanta Braves™ player, in the right-handed stance everyone recognizes, based on a photograph. The selvage carries a digital painting of him watching the ball leave the park on his record-breaking 715th home run, worked up from a 1974 photograph by Harry Harris.

The career it points to

Aaron debuted with the Milwaukee Braves™ on April 13, 1954, and hit his first home run ten days later. His first All-Star™ selection came in 1955, his first batting title in 1956 with a .328 average.

Then came 1957. "Hammerin' Hank" led baseball with 44 home runs and 132 runs batted in and was named National League™ Most Valuable Player. His 11th-inning home run clinched the pennant. In the World Series he hit .393 with three home runs as the Braves beat the Yankees™ in seven games for the franchise's second World Series™ title.
