John Wooden (1910–2010) coached UCLA to ten Division I men's basketball national championships — a record that still stands.
Reading the design
Wooden looks out past the viewer in the foreground. Behind him, against deep UCLA blue, a player contests a shot. The two jersey numbers, 4 and 10, are not incidental: they stand for the Bruins' four perfect seasons and the ten titles won during his tenure.
Art director Antonio Alcalá built the stamp from original artwork by Alexis Franklin, itself based on an early-1970s photograph by Norm Schindler.
