For one week in May 2026, Boston becomes the center of world stamp collecting as host of the Boston 2026 World Expo — the twelfth international philatelic exhibition held in the United States, an event that comes around roughly once a decade. These two stamps mark it, and tie it to Boston's part in the American Revolution as the nation approaches its 250th anniversary.

The two designs

One shows the Old North Church, the oldest church building still standing in Boston, as it looked during the Revolution. The other shows a midnight rider on horseback in colonial dress, lantern raised to light the road ahead.

Printing

Both are digital illustrations printed in intaglio, deliberately made to look like the engraved stamps of the 19th and early 20th centuries.
