The U.S. Flag issue in coil format, feeding one stamp at a time off the roll — the format offices reach for when mail goes out daily.
What the design records
Thirteen horizontal stripes, seven red and six white, one for each colony that broke with Great Britain. Fifty stars on blue, matching the number of states; the 50th joined them on July 4, 1960, after Hawai'i's admission the year before.
Where you see it
Old Glory flies at government offices, schools, military installations and USPS facilities, over the Capitol in Washington, D.C., and in a full circle around the base of the Washington Monument. June 14 has been Flag Day since Woodrow Wilson's 1916 proclamation.
The stamp
Antonio Alcalá designed it from a photograph by Doug Haight. As a Forever stamp it always matches the current First-Class Mail one-ounce price.
