A simple-looking stamp that was not simple to make. Art Director Antonio Alcalá says the difficulty came after the photograph: Andersen-Bruce shot the crane, and the shadows then had to be reworked so the bird reads as airborne rather than perched.
Fitting words around a bird
The other problem was typographic. Positioning the text so it sits naturally around the crane, at the size a stamp actually is, took more iterations than the finished design suggests.
