If you went looking for the new postcard stamp in 2022 and could not find one, that is because there wasn't one. USPS issued no postcard-rate design that year. What happened in 2022 was a price change, not a release.
That is worth understanding, because it explains why the postcard design catalogue is so much thinner than the letter-rate one.
What a postcard stamp actually is
A postcard-rate stamp carries the word POSTCARD where a denomination would normally go. Like a letter-rate Forever issue, it has no number printed on it, and it stays valid for one postcard forever — buy it at one rate, use it after three increases, still good.
It is cheaper than a letter stamp because a postcard is lighter and simpler to handle than a sealed envelope. That is the whole reason the separate rate exists.
What changed on 10 July 2022
Rates moved that day. Here is the full picture, since this is the part of the 2022 story people actually needed:

Two notes on that table. The metered row is a discount for postage printed by a meter or an online service — it is not the counter price, and mixing the two up is how people end up short. And the postcard rate only applies if the card actually qualifies as a postcard: past 4¼ × 6 inches it pays the letter rate instead. The size limits are worth reading once, because a card that misses them by a quarter inch costs you the difference on every piece.
Why the design catalogue is so small
Postcard-rate stamps come out roughly every other year, not annually. The recent run:
Barns — 24 January 2021
Four designs following one subject through the seasons: a rural barn with a bay window in early spring, a gabled-roof barn in summer, a round barn in the hazy light and warm colour of autumn, and a Western-style barn under snow. The issue was tied to barn preservation — barns are an architectural record of the generations that farmed the land, and a lot of them are disappearing.
Coral Reefs — 29 March 2019
A sheet of 20 showing four species of stony coral with reef fish. Coral reefs shelter something like a quarter of all marine species while occupying a tiny fraction of the ocean floor, and they are under serious pressure from pollution and warming water. The issue was a conservation flag as much as a stamp.
Seashells — 2017
Four shells found in North American waters, shown with waves washing them onto a beach. Long since retired from official sale, and still one of the better-liked postcard issues.
So: three designs in five years, against dozens of letter-rate commemoratives over the same period. If you want a postcard stamp that isn't the one currently on the rack, the official store is not where you will find it.
What USPS does not issue
There are no wedding postcard stamps and no Christmas postcard stamps, though both exist at the letter rate. Postcard-rate issues stay generic — landscapes, wildlife, architecture — because a single design has to carry the whole rate for a year or more.
Pre-stamped cards are the workaround people reach for: the card and the postage together, often with an art reproduction on the face. Useful when you want something better-looking than a blank card and do not want to buy stamps separately.
If you are mailing in quantity
Presorted First-Class starts at 500 pieces. USPS Marketing Mail starts at 200. Below those thresholds there is no bulk rate, whatever anyone tells you — you are paying the retail postcard rate per card, and the only real saving available is on what you pay for the stamps themselves.
Best deals on Forever stamps
Postcard Forever issues work exactly like letter ones: bought at 40¢, still good at 44¢ and at every rate since. A retired design bought below face is postage you have already saved money on, and it will not expire.

2022 brought a 44¢ postcard rate and no new postcard design. The catalogue is small by design — three issues in five years — so variety means retired stock, and retired postcard Forevers are still full postage today.
